Originally formed in 1984 and restructured in the year 2000, the Asian Blind Union is one of the 6 regional arms of the World Blind Union (the sole representative body of over 160 million visually impaired persons across the globe). Commonly known as ‘ABU’, The Asian Blind Union is a non-Governmental, non-religious, non-political and non-profit organization. As many as 26 national organizations of and for the blind based in 21 countries of South Asia, the Middle East and Central Asia constitute the ABU membership.

The Asian Blind Union is committed to ensure equality of opportunities and full participation for visually impaired persons in all sectors of life in its member countries, to eliminate prejudices and to promote belief in the proven abilities of blind and partially sighted persons across the ABU region.

An innovative and most absorbing display of skill and talent was witnessed at Shah Auditorium, Delhi, today, when competitors from all over the country vied vigorously with one other. What was so special? The competitors were all visually challenged; the event: An All India Dance Competition.
